STEM Program of Excellence
Kimberley Park State School is a leading STEM primary school in the South East Region, offering a specialised STEM Pathway of Excellence for students with strong interest and aptitude in STEM. This selective entry program is open to students in Years 4, 5 and 6. Students in the program access accelerated learning opportunities across Robotics, Coding, Science, Engineering and Mathematics through integrated, real-world learning pathways.
Learning is driven by inquiry and designed to develop critical thinking, creativity and innovation. Students are challenged to investigate and solve authentic, complex problems, building the skills, mindsets and capabilities required for future pathways in a rapidly changing world. The program fosters a strong culture of academic excellence and supports students to maximise their potential.
Students also engage in learning experiences with educational and industry partners, including The University of Queensland, Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology and the Queensland Museum.
Robotics
Robotics at KPSS is an extra-curricular extension offered to students in the STEM Pathway of Excellence. The program supports students to explore robotics and emerging technologies through project-based learning where they integrate and apply a range of digital tools to solve real challenges.
Students develop capabilities in design thinking, programming, engineering, project management, problem solving and collaboration. Learning takes place within class teams, with opportunities for highly motivated students to extend their skills through additional projects and competitions.
The Robotics program provides authentic opportunities for students to work collaboratively, think creatively and apply their knowledge in meaningful contexts while developing organisational and teamwork skills.
