Student absences

To report a student absence, Kimberley Park has introduced a text messaging service.

TEXT ABSENCE to 0427 491 592 (this is a text-only number to an automated service)

THE MESSAGE MUST CONTAIN THE STUDENT'S NAME, THE DAY OR DAYS THE STUDENT IS ABSENT AND THE REASON.

IF NO REASON IS SUPPLIED (SICK, HOLIDAY, FAMILY REASONS ETC) THE ABSENCE WILL BE RECORDED AS UNEXPLAINED.

Regular attendance promotes the best learning opportunities for students.

Sometimes parents are required to collect their child during learning times to attend an appointment or to leave school grounds early. I request that parents please sign children out at the office before progressing to the classroom to collect them.

Advance notice, in writing to the class teacher, will enable the teacher to support your child to be ready on time. This also provides students the opportunity to prepare any homework or catch-up work that their teacher may wish to negotiate with them.

EVERYDAY COUNTS

Every day counts is a state wide initiative that aims to assist in improving student attendance at school through a shared commitment by students, parents, caregivers, schools and the community.

To do this, Every day counts promotes four key messages:

  • all children should be enrolled at school and attend on every school day
  • schools should monitor, communicate and implement strategies to improve regular school attendance
  • truanting can place a student in unsafe situations and impact on their future employability and life choices
  • attendance at school is the responsibility of everyone in the community.
