At Kimberley Park State School, we recognise the importance of a child's development in the years before they start formal schooling. As such, we would like to work with KP Families to ensure they know how to access support services and early intervention programmes in the years prior to their child/ren starting Prep.

Healthy Kids Check for Four Year Old Children

If your child has had their third birthday but has not yet turned five, you may wish to arrange for them to have a Healthy Kids Check provided by your local GP or practice nurse. A Healthy Kids Check is available to all children at or around the time of their four year old immunisations and helps to ensure that children are healthy, fit and ready to learn when they start school.

A Healthy Kids Check will include an assessment of your child's height, weight, eyesight, hearing and oral health and discussion about their toilet habits, developmental milestones and known or suspected allergies.

Please contact your GP or family medical practice to arrange an appointment.

Developmental Milestones

The following Developmental Milestone Guide (PDF 840kb) is published by the Department of Child Health Services. This may be useful in determining whether your child would benefit from further professional assessment. If you are concerned that your child may have a 'red flag' indicator, please speak to your Family Doctor or Child Health Nurse.
