Uniform policy

At Kimberley Park Primary School, it is the expectation that all students who choose to attend our school will wear the correct uniform at all times. This policy has been established by joint consultation with the School Council, P&C, Administration and Staff of Kimberley Park State School.

Wearing the uniform encourages each child to have pride in themselves and their school. It also provides each child with a strong sense of belonging. The school uniform has been designed to be:

  • Practical for the needs of children during their active days at school
  • Long wearing
  • Cost effective
  • Sun-safe, with the current uniform meeting the suggested guidelines for Sun Safe school uniforms.

Kimberley Park enforces a strict "No hat, no play" policy. All children are required to wear a hat that protects the face, neck and ears whenever they are involved in outdoor activities. In line with this policy the following applies:

  • Caps are not suitable, as they do not give sufficient sun protection.
  • The reversible school wide-brimmed hat is the preferred option for all students. In the interests of safety, it is required that all students wear closed- toe shoes at all times.

Jewellery is not a part of the school uniform. In the interests of the personal safety of each child, it is recommended that jewellery be confined to a watch and small plain sleepers or stud earrings for those with pierced ears.

Hair longer than shoulder length should be tied back. Extreme coloured hair is considered inappropriate. Hair accessories should be in the school colours of navy or maroon. All items of clothing must be clearly marked with the student’s name.

Kimberley Park has a number of free dress days during the year when the children are permitted to wear casual clothes.
