The study of geography is a structured way of exploring, analysing and understanding the characteristics of the places that make up our world.  It integrates knowledge from the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities to build a holistic understanding of the world, investigating geography’s impact on humanity and also humanity’s impact on geography.

The Australian Curriculum: Geography addresses scales from a personal through a global level and time periods from current time through to thousands of years ago.

Kimberley Park State School’s study of Geography uses an inquiry approach to assist students to make meaning of their world, teaching them to respond to questions in a geographically distinct way; plan an inquiry; collect, evaluate, analyse and interpret information; and suggest responses to what they have learned.  Through geography studies, students conduct fieldwork, map and interpret data and use spatial technologies developing a wide range of general skills, an appreciation of different perspectives, a capacity for teamwork and an ability to think critically and creatively.
